Cross off #23

I'm excited to announce I can cross off one thing on my 30 before 30 list! Last night I took a very happy hubby to see The Phantom Menace in 3D. And I didn't complain. That much. (probably because he got me the kids pack, a delightful assortment of popcorn and gummies)

You see, my hubby is a paradox....ridiculously good looking and an ultra geek. In fact, this is him taking down an infant.

(explanation: I throw children's birthday parties on the side....and he "has" to dress up so the kids can "defeat" him)

Be jealous ladies...not everyone can say they're married to Darth Vader.....well except Padme Amidala. (oh goodness, how do I know that....my geekification is under way)

When are you going to have a baby?

Good night, how often do hubby and I get this one? I hate this question on so many different levels. I have had so many of my friends have trouble with fertility and I can't even imagine how this question would pierce your heart if you had just miscarried or were pumped full of hormone shots in hopes that you will ovulate. Unless you truly know someones story, just don't ask.  It's not your business.

So, to the lady at the grocery store, numerous student's parents and the random people at TJ Maxx...yes, hubs and I have been married almost 6 years. Yes, we recently bought our first home. No, that does not give anyone the right to ask how my uterus  is doing. No, it does not make my husband and I selfish.  Truth be told, we got engaged at 22 and married at 23. We have had some awesome opportunities in our marriage that wouldn't have been as easy to do if we did have kids. Currently, it's a choice not to have children and we feel pretty happy about riding out our 20's child free.

I love all my mommy friends and think their kids are awesome. I think the toughest job in the world is being a parent. I love the baby posts on facebook. I love baby sitting (6 months and up please, the whole head falling off thing terrifies me) I love squeezing cute baby thighs when I see them.....and I enjoy the fact that I can hand a baby promptly back to their mothers...because this girl just isn't ready yet. This baby is the only one I'm ready for:

Dixie's 2nd birthday, collective "Awww"

Stuff I can cross off my bucket list

Can't wait to get started on the 30 before 30...we already have Vegas booked to go and see those wine angels. Until then...here are some fun things I did in my 20's
  • Married the love of my life. And he's goooooood looking! And geeky. And has some sweet moves on the dance floors. (don't mind the sweat...we were in Mexico and feeling no pain)

  • Let go of control for once and let my love plan our honeymoon. It was a total surprise and it was AMAZING. We went to Amalfi, Pompeii and Rome.
  • Lived in Costa Rica for a month. It was HEAVEN. Hubby studied Spanish...I worshiped the sun and mastered in cuba libre making.

  • Built a real snowman....a big deal for a Texas girl.
  • Lived and worked in Manhattan for 3 years.....ok, ok I commuted in from Hoboken (think Cake Boss people)
  • Ate and drank my way through Spain...jamon iberico, OH YEAH.

  • Partied at the Playboy Club in Vegas

  • Stayed in the turret of Sleeping Beauty's Castle in Germany

  • Saw the Manequin Pis in beautiful Brussels, Belgium. Ate all the waffles, chocolate and fries I could handle.

  • Tried Absinthe at a bar called the Pink Elephant. Not a fan.

  • Went to the Louvre, Eiffel Tower and Moulin Rouge

  • picked up a hot guy to take me rowing in Versailles

30 things to do before I turn 30

I hate to admit it, but this is definitely up there on my favorite movie list:

I love everything from the awesome 80's outfits to the awkward middle school moments...but what I love most is that 30 is considered flirty and thriving! I've done some amazing things in my 20's and am ALMOST ready to say goodbye, but not until I've....

30. Read the entire Harry Potter series. I've only made it to book 4, but I've seen all the movies. I even run a kids camp based on HP. I feel like a fraud. Time to step up and do it....I love JK Rowling, I just haven't made the time.

29.Lay out on the Greek Islands looking spicy in a little white bikini. Preferably Santorini.

28. Lose weight necessary to get in said white bikini.

27. Go camping. And actually sleep outside on the ground. With bugs. And no electricity. And rum. Lots and lots of rum.

26. Eat at Aureole restaurant in Vegas. It has wine angels that bring you your drinks. Heaven. Check it out

25. Take a class at S Factor with a bunch of girlfriends and then put on a private show for the hubby! Should I pole dance or lap dance?

24. Visit King's Cross Station and taken a picture like this:

23. Take my hubby to see The Phantom Menace in 3D....because it would make his whole year. I'm a good wifey like that.

22. Go to Broadway and see In the Heights. I've been wanting to see it forever and never made the time. Great music!

21. Start and maintain a blog.....step one complete!

20. Stay at the lofthaven-a tree house hotel that you have to zipline in to!! See it here

19. Do the winery tour in Fredricksburg, TX with my love.

18. Become a certified Zumba instructor....scary! (my favorite picture ever below...because it is SO true!)

17. Read the Hunger Game series. My cousin gave me the first book and I haven't had a chance to sit down and read it yet :(

16. Crash a wedding. Vince Vaughn style.

15. Get professional photos of me and hubs done. Last ones we had were from our wedding as shown below:

14. Take a professional hip hop class and have the best time ever shaking my booty...even if it's to the wrong beat and I'm being out-danced by everyone in the room.

13. Get hair extensions. Ridiculously long ones that everyone will know couldn't have possible grown over night....and not.give.a.damn.

12. Help out a stranger in a big way....I don't know what I'll do, but I feel confident that I'll recognize the moment when it arises.

11. Write my children's book and actually send it off to try to get it published.

10. Attend the NBA All Star game in Houston, 2013!

9. Take a cake decorating class. And make someone I love a cake!

8. Give a speech at my "soul sista's" rehearsal dinner...without hyperventilating or inserting foot in my mouth.
(what could happen below)

7. Take an acrobatics class! This could be me

6. Go pub hopping in England and Ireland. Take photos with everyone in the bar and speak in my "awesome" English accent the whole time.

5. Mardi Gras in NOLA!!!!! And try to remember it.

4. Celebrate Sextember!

3. Super Secret Goal. Mwahahahahahaha......and no it's not have a baby.

2. Start and maintain a prayer journal. Set aside time every day for me and God, and another time for me, hubs and God.

1. Wag More. Bark Less. My favorite bumper sticker.

This list was in no particular order. So here goes nothing...I have 18 months to get this done, yikes!

xoxo,
JEA
